FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How old does my child need to be to attend the workshop?

Rhubarb Jam Productions caters to primary school aged children.

How is the day structured?

Participants will be divided into age groups and will rotate through activities during each day of the workshop. Here is an example of our timetable.

Where will the workshop take place?

Rhubarb Jam Productions’  have 3 venues. Wilkin's Primary School in Marrickville, Sydney Secondary College Balmain Campus and Kotara South Public School, Kotara South. You will be sent a detailed information email a week before to the workshop.

How do I enrol my child?

You can enrol your child by completing an enrolment form on our 'Book Now' page.  Once you completed we will email you an invoice with a non-refundable $60 deposit required to secure your spot. Alternatively, email us and we'll send you the required forms.

Can my child attend the program for one day?

We have found attending the workshop for a short time during the week can be overwhelming for participants. We believe that the process of putting on a show is the most valuable learning experience and we want participants to feel as involved as possible which is why we encourage attending for 3 or more days.

If I enrol my child Mon-Wed will they be in Friday’s performance?

Unfortunately this is not possible. As the process is extensive and each day is integral to the performance, we find that a child would be overwhelmed coming back on Friday afternoon for the performance.

What is the cost for the workshop?

5 day workshop: $365 ($73/Day)

4 day workshop: $310 ($77.50/Day)

3 day workshop (Mon – Wed or Wed – Fri): $255 ($85/Day)

All prices are inclusive of GST.

Do I get a discount if I have more than one child to enrol in the workshop?

Absolutely! We offer a discount of 20% off workshop price for a second child and 25% for a third.

Can I use the Creative Kids voucher?

You certainly can! Just input your voucher details in your enrolment form when prompted.

How do I pay for the workshop?

You can pay via direct debit or online using credit card or direct debit. When paying by direct debit, please ensure you place your child’s name in the description of payment for identification purposes.

Do I have to pay the whole amount for the workshop up front?

Yes. Full payment is required to confirm a place in the workshop.

What if I only book my child in for the first three days and they want to continue for the rest of the week?

If your child loves the experience so much in their first three days that they want to continue, they are more than welcome to do so! In this case, you will only have to pay the remaining balance for the weekly workshop price.

What if I want to cancel my booking?

We understand that circumstances often change. Each cancelled booking is subject to a $60 administration fee.

My child is starting Kindergarten this year. Can they join?

Absolutely! We often have children come to our January workshops just before they are about to start school. The structure of the daily routine is actually a good introduction for them.

Do you offer before and after care?

We understand that most parents work throughout the school holidays. Our sessions run from 9am to 3pm. Extended hours from 8am - 5pm are included in the cost. All prices include GST. Please be advised that we do not have after care on the Friday of the workshop due to the performance.

Can I elect other people to drop off/pick up my children?

Absolutely, providing that the adult (must be over 18) signs your child in and out. Please let us know in advance who will be dropping off or picking up your child in your place (the day of this occurring is fine).

What do children need to bring along for the day?

Participants should ensure provision on the following:

  • A packed lunch and morning tea as well as any other snacks they may require.

  • Please make sure all snacks are nut free due to allergies of other participants.

  • Plenty of water.

  • A hat to wear whilst playing outside.

  • Wear flat, closed toe shoes.

  • Any required medication and is to be left with workshop leaders.

Will my child be grouped with their friends?

Participants are grouped according to their age. If you would like your child to be grouped with a specific friend please make note of this on the enrolment form and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

How many participants will be in each group?

At Rhubarb Jam Productions, providing a quality experience for participants is of utmost importance. We will cap each group at 15 to ensure that each participant can spend quality time with each workshop leader.

When is the performance?

The performance will take place at 3pm on the Friday of the workshop. Parents should be aware there is no after care for the Friday.

Will the performance be filmed?

At this stage, we will not be filming our productions as our focus is on the workshop process rather than a finished product. If parents want to film, they are more than welcome. All we ask is that parents do not stand in any aisle as this presents potential hazards. We also ask due to child protection laws that parents do not publish any photos or footage online.

Will photographs and video be taken?

Yes. However, we will not publish any photos or video footage online (website, social media etc) without consent of parents. You can give us permission when filling out our online enrollment form.

Do you have insurance?

Yes. We have full public and property liability insurance.

What happens if there are disruptive participants?

Every effort is made to negotiate with participants and parents where necessary to ensure that every child is comfortable and accommodated for. If however in the unlikely event any children are at risk of harm due to the behaviour of another participant, mediation with the participant and parents will determine the most suitable outcome.

What if my child gets sick?

It is in the best interest of your child and the health of others that they do not continue with the workshop. Refer to terms and conditions for our cancelation policy.

What is your policy regarding COVID-19?

We are following the NSW/DET guidelines as outlined here: Click Here

In the case of our workshops being cancelled due to the spread of the Corona Virus, parents will be eligible for a refund. However, we cannot issue a refund for any redeemed Creative Kids vouchers. In this case, I will receive a $100 credit note for a future workshop.

Can I use the Active Kids Voucher?

Unfortunately, we are not eligible to accept the Active Kids Vouchers as we don't run for 8 consecutive weeks or more. However, we do accept the Creative Kids Vouchers.
